BYD ships 805 electric cars to Africa

From the newsletter
Chinese EV manufacturer BYD has made a shipment of 805 electric cars to Morocco. It is one of the largest single shipments of EVs to Africa. It marked the first shipment of goods from China’s Xiaomo International Logistics Port, located in the Shenzhen region, to Africa. The opening of the shipping line comes amid strong African demand for Chinese electric cars.
The Xiaomo port is located just 4 km from a BYD factory. The cars can reach the port in five minutes. The opening of the route from the port to Africa will make importation of EVs from China to Africa much easier.
China is the biggest supplier of EVs to Africa. Other than BYD, other Chinese automakers making waves in the continent’s EV sector include Zeekr, Dongfeng, JAC, Changan and Xpeng. The Asian giant is also the main source of components used to assemble EVs in Africa.
